The Mönchengladbach Police Advisory Board has the task of promoting a trusting relationship between the population, the city administration and the police, supporting police work and bringing suggestions and requests from the population to the police.
Police matters that are of importance to the population and local self-government are discussed at its meetings, including complaints that are directed against the police and are of public interest.
The Police Advisory Board must also be consulted prior to the creation of social facilities, the planning of structural facilities for the police, the establishment or dissolution of police inspectorates and police stations and changes to their districts. The same applies to the appointment of a new police commissioner.
