(jd) The employee of a supermarket on Liebigstraße noticed a man leaving the store at 8.25 p.m. on Tuesday (29.4.) with a full shopping cart - but without having paid for the goods first. The employee and a colleague then followed the unknown man, who fled with the shopping cart in the direction of Gaußstraße. The two employees managed to stop the man, who then immediately became verbally and physically aggressive and punched one of the two employees. However, both managed to detain the suspect until the police officers arrived. The man, a 20-year-old of no fixed abode, was also aggressive towards the officers during the entire investigation. He was taken to the Herford police station, where a breath alcohol test was clearly positive. The 20-year-old was taken into police custody to prevent further offenses.
