Teenager seriously injured in traffic accident

(jd) A 47-year-old man from Herford was driving his Volvo on Bauvereinstraße at 7.45 pm on Monday (14/07) and intended to turn left at an intersection onto Salzufler Straße. At the same time, a 15-year-old from Herford was driving his e-scooter on Bauvereinstraße coming from the direction of a supermarket and intended to cross the intersection in a straight line. A collision then occurred between the two road users at the junction. The 15-year-old fell onto the road and was seriously injured. An ambulance was called to the scene and he was taken to hospital for inpatient treatment. The 47-year-old also received medical treatment at the scene. The 15-year-old Herforder's legal guardians were informed of the accident. The scene of the accident remained closed for the duration of the accident investigation. Property damage in the four-digit range was caused.
